Dales Countryside Museum
The Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes tells the story of the Dales Landscape and people over the last 10,000 years. Walk through the Time Tunnel to see unique exhibits from the Stone Age to Victorian times. Climb aboard our static train and see how family life has changes in the Dales. Take a walk down the 'lead mine' and discover how industries of the Dales and farming bring the museum alive. Hands on interactive exhibits make it fun for children. Occasional matinee films, concerts and performances are shown in the hall.
The museum reception houses the Yorkshire Dales National Park Centre and Tourist Information. Also a shop selling books, maps, clothing and local crafts and produce.
There are facilites for school groups with education programmes and loan boxes on different themes. Resource rooms are available for local studies and family history research. Meeting and training facilities are available and can cater for up to 100 delegates. All areas are accessible to wheelchair users and pushchairs.
