Sarah Raven Study Days at Newby Hall & Gardens
Monday 13th September - Year Round Vegetables
Sarah shares her secrets on creating a steady supply of delicious vegetables, salads and herbs from garden to kitchen without glut or dearth. She will guide you through designing your veg patch round what your household eats, help you create a chart of what to sow when, and give you tips on plant rotation to minimise problems with pests and diseases. You will also hear about harvesting your crops and be introduced to some ornamental "edibles" that will brighten up the vegetable patch.
Tuesday 14th September - Cutting Garden
If you've been thinking about creating a cutting patch in your garden but are not sure where to start, this course is for you. Sarah will explain how to prepare, plant, maintain and harvest buckets of flowers from your own garden from March to November. You'll learn about the latest sowing and growing techniques, so that those who have never even sown a packet of seeds will achieve brilliant results. Sarah will talk about Spring sown hardy annuals like scabious and sweet peas, and half-hardy annuals like cosmos and zinnias - showing you all her favourite dahlias for planting now. You will learn the best sowing techniques so you can achieve brilliant results.
